As others have noted, the analogue of the Lite version of RPi OS would just be pure Debian without a GUI environment.Īnother thing on my wishlist would be the ability to install the distribution, boot it to add and remove some programs (including VBox guest additions), then re-enable the first-boot wizard to make an image to give to others. Try a 20GB disk instead: that worked for me.Īctually, I don't need all the software that comes with the distribution, so I'd rather have a minimal installation (like the middle option for RPi OS itself) that had the desktop but none of the recommended software. On dropping into the shell, it appeared that the disk was full. Everything seemed to work until the last moment, when Grub failed to install. I struggled a bit with the VirtualBox installation, because the default disk size (8GB) suggested by VBox for 32-bit Debian is not big enough. I've successfully installed it on a spare laptop, and now also in VirtualBox. Like many people, I've been eagerly awaiting the Bullseye version of Debian + RPi desktop.
